  • No worries and thank you Daan van den Bergh for your quick reply. I am just learning about how to set up Google Analytics with my new WordPress site. I think in the past (years ago) I had added GA code to my old website header.php which worked and I never looked back.

Now with my new website, I saw online that it was suggested to use a simple plugin to do this. Also, I noticed that there is a new version of Google Analytics (GA4) so I fumbled through setting up a new GA property. Having attempted to use multiple WP plugins to connect to GA – which all failed to work, I started to think I was in over my head and obviously doing something wrong. I chose your plugin from WP Johnny’s recommendation (awesome guy and resource on all things WordPress).

As I mentioned, GA seems to be tracking now but based on various online GA testing sites used to verify if it’s connected or working, they all state my website is not connected.

Thank you for posting this!!! I have been pulling my hair out for two days trying to get this plugin to work with Google Analytics GA4. I too followed the provided CAOS instructions and could not get it to work (using the suggested Analytics.js). As soon as I changed the “Download File” to “Gtag.js (v4 API – Beta)”, my Google Analytics immediately started working! Thank you Essaund!

    Hello Jordy,

I’m having a similar issue that started out with trying to activate the free version of Media File Renamer (yesterday). Today I am able to activate Media File Renamer (free) but now I cannot activate the Pro version of Meow Lightbox – I instantly get the same WP white screen with “There has been a critical error on this website…” error message.

I have sent you an email directly (online contact page). I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you

    Follow up on my situation…

I always use backups through Cloudways. However, when I use previous backups (that have always previously worked), the Media File Renamer (Free) plugin will automatically update itself to the latest version (5.2.9) so I am not able to go back to the previous version (5.2.8) to test.

I’m not sure what has happened. I have been developing other things on my website (using Cludways backups) without any issues. Then all of a sudden I started getting the white screen “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” error message and unable to move forward until I go in and disable all plugins through FTP. Once I go back into WP Admin, I was able to pinpoint the issue with the Media File Renamer (Free) plugin. I can activate all my other plugins with no problem but as soon as I update Media File Renamer (Free) – I get the same white screen error message.

I’m not sure what else to do at the moment. Maybe it’s on my end or maybe it’s the plugin, I’m just not sure. However, I think a new version of Media File Renamer (Free) was uploaded during this time so it makes me wonder.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Flowerlark – Mine started working again after I changed the following:

1.) Look under “1. Configure” Tab
2.) At “Check for new posts” section, change from “When the page loads” to “In the background” (also selecting from drop-down menu – time increment).
    3.) Save changes
4.) Refresh your browser on your website.

    Hope this helps

Please forgive me, I’m an idiot. I read you org-chart information and stopped right there – I didn’t scroll down page to view all of the instances.

I also just sent you a donation for all your great work with this plugin.

    Thanks and take care,
    Mythical Dean
