I added each subscriber manually. Could that have caused the problem? The other issue now is that the subscribers who are registered users for the wordpress site are not getting the emails even though I have added them as subscribers on simple-subscribe.

As far as simple subscribe, there was no error message generated. The email generated by simple subscribe with my post contained my entire subscriber list of emails in the “from” field.
