In reply to: WordPress : Slow responseTosin,
Thanks for these tips. I will check them out and report my findings. John
Hello, I have started to experience very similar issues editing my pages (as admin). Long pauses waiting for WordPress to respond with each edit/update.
Have thrifted out all plugins, cleared space on the server (now 40% of quota), but alas this fairly recent problem remains. Response for site users remains good, except for those wanting to login to restricted pages. The …/wp-login script takes ages to respond but does actually get there after 30 – 60sec. Same on various devices PC/iPad/iPhone …
Any ideas ? John

In reply to: WordPress : Slow responseHave thrifted out unwanted plugins, removed or deactivated. The ‘Smash Balloon Instagram Feed’ was the most recent plugin, but deactivating it makes no difference.
Have also thrifted out server space to around 45% of quota, but with no perceivable difference in response times. Just seems to spend so much time waiting for WordPress to respond each time.
For users, the response time is good except when they want to login to restricted areas via …/wp-login.php
Never used to be like this, so something must have changed.

In reply to: WordPress : Slow responseWill start by thrifting out redundant/unnecessary plugins one by one and see what happens.
Thanks for the tip. JohnKim,
The plugin available via your link installs, activates and runs OK. It identifies itself as V1.5.31, but I assume it is a test version? If things continue OK should I update to V1.5.32 when it becomes available?
Thanks for your help. Regards John
Hello,
I have determined that the problem occurs when upgrading from V1.5.28 (which appears fine) to V1.5.29. V1.5.30 and V1.5.31 also fail.
The following error is reported when I attempt to view the page described in my original posting.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/growley/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/photo-gallery/frontend/views/view.php on line 769
Looking forward to your response. Hope this helps
Regards
John
Hello,
Thanks for your response which was most helpful. Before investigating the debugging option, I have tried installing various versions of Photo Gallery :
1.5.31 Installs OK but page fails to update after editing
1.5.30 As above
1.5.29 As aboveI stepped back to a much earlier version 1.5.18 and the page now updates and views OK with this version of the plugin. It was just a random choice on my part.
Will try stepping forward with the versions and then set up the debugging option when I work out how to do it !
RegardsJohn
In the meantime is there a way of reverting to the previous version of Photo Gallery?
