Yes, that is exactly what I was doing. Which is why I didn’t understand it.
I went to WordPress chat who said they couldn’t help. Then I went to Host Gator chat and they said the obvious. “Have you recently added a Plug-in?” Why yes I had. When I deactivated it my pictures worked again.

I found a comment in Feedback that was meant as a comment. Did you check Feedback? Although my items in feedback only have 2 options Spam or Trash.
I wish I had a real answer for you, since I have a similar problem.
