This update is a bad, bad joke. it broke my blog for the whole weekend, as i didn’t notice at first what was happening as I use caching. all pages printed an error and loading broke at 50% of page load. this cost me a lot of money and may even harm my search ranking. now that I’ve read your answers here, I’ll deinstall your plugin. Really, really bad.
@hallsofmontezuma: A unexperienced user might …
- not notice the new activated/deactivated button thats deactivated by default
- not notice that the check/uncheck settings aren’t back to the user settings even after the manual database upgrade
It is very, very likely that many users of your plugin now have changed or default WP site titles and / or descriptions and don’t even realize that. This WILL hurt their SE rankings.
BTW Be sure that I will post issues like these here at wordpress.org as what you did is really dangerous to those who already have some SE traffic and rely on your plugin.
I wanted to do other things today than looking for another SEO plugin, but regarding this discussion and the style of your posts & feedback (+ all the new donation stuff and checks), it might be a good idea for the future.
I’m a little upset. Not because of the Amazon Wishlist or the big donation button that’s new and on pole position in your plugin (we all need to make money somehow) but because of upgrade issues just like these. Also, some settings change when upgrading, like the “exclude tag from index”, and the database fix does not bring all old settings back.
If one runs a big blog with your plugin, such “upgrades” may severely damage ones site performance and earnings: If title tag and description change from one second to the other in your whole blog, you will loose reputation in SERPS – the engines are very sensitive to such changes.
All in all I’d like to ask you to develop this good plugin and release upgrades with more caution – thanks!

In reply to: Aeros Theme and NextGEN Galleryjeanstarbo, yes thats possible and described in readme.txt, style.css and function.php. It’s even possible to switch your images from the backend.

In reply to: Aeros Theme SupportYes that could be done by some hard-coding. I could offer you customization – contact me via TheBuckmaker.com if you like.
This bug will be solved in the next version – it doesn’t affect the useability as its only seen when logged in as admin and even then only concerns the comments

In reply to: Alternating comment background colourHi Andune, I think that using plugins is the best way of doing this.

In reply to: AEROS THEME 1.0.2Update: There have been some more releases in the meantime and a major one (Aeros 2.0) will come soon:
The Aeros Theme has been rebuilt from scratch. Rounded corners and opacity now also work in IE, Opera and all other browsers. As the theme is now 100% valid CSS and XHTML, most bugs and issues with the problem causing ‘opacity’ and ‘border-radius’ code might belong to the past.

Bug?
which version of Aeros?
which version of WordPress?
which browser?I just tested it in FF and IE and it’s displayed correctly. Some more info would be nice.

I will submit the new version 2.0 ‘Astro’ of this theme to the WordPress theme repository and hope that it will be approved as soon as possible. It would be nice if some of you help me getting it back featured again 😉

In reply to: Aeros Theme and NextGEN Gallery@tippjt: first of all thanks for the compliments, always nice to get positive feedback and that it works for you.
Of course I will – as I wrote – submit Aeros 2.0 ‘Astro’ to the theme directory (‘repository’) but it always takes some time until it is approved there.Forum: Plugins

In reply to: Aeros theme (corners problem)@papada: As I told you on the authors site, IE doesn’t at all display rounded corners. I used all available border styles (-moz-border-radius, -khtml-border-radius, ..) to make the rounded corners work in almost every browser: FF, Chrome, Safari, …. – except for IE.
You would have to use images to make the rounded corners work everywhere. As the theme is half-transparent, this gets tricky and will always be a compromise which affects the overall impression. Maybe IE will some day understand ’rounded corners’. Maybe IE8.

@craigmollekin: make sure that your theme path is /aeros/ and not /aeros1.0.4/again: I offer theme related support at http://thebuckmaker.com – please ask theme related questions there
