@bkatzung, finally got around to trying the new script and it all seems to work fine. Thanks a million as it was driving me crazy.
However, I did try adding it to Google Tag manager as a Custom HTML but was getting errors when trying to publish it.

@bkatzung This code did not work for me. Appears to be on the page but not stripping the ?kuid= tracking code. URL is https://stevescottseo.com. FYI we are using and loving your KCSG Kartra Pages plugin!
I’m seeing the same thing with sites. Wondering if it’s some kind of plugin I have installed or perhaps something with Kaspersky AntiVirus.
