MrMist is correct. Had to set my FTP program to force showing hidden files on the remote server. Found the .maintenance file in the root directory for my blog and deleted it. Did not require any other action (e.g., another manual install.) Message in Dashboard went away. Thanks for your help and suggestions.
I did another manual update and the message still appears on the Dashboard. Everything is working fine. I got the maintenance message and that disappeared as it should. But the automatic update message persists:
An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.
I just used the tiny mice and the addl tiny mice table plugins for a 2 column table with text on one side and images from the media gallery on the other. Works great. Hope this helps
Same problem here; checked the source and all is fine. But still get the XML-RPC error.
