Tech: “My guess is that the problem has something to do with PHP 7.3, because as I mentioned previously, Ultrafast PHP applies PHP 7.3. It is possible that there was an update inside your application that made that feature incompatible with PHP 7.3.

I switched back to Standard PHP, and I also had to change the PHP version to 7.2 for the public_html/v3 directory, because PHP 7.3 resulted in an error. The issue is most probably PHP 7.3 in the first place, because Ultrafast PHP works with PHP 7.3 automatically.

In any event, with that setup, all downloads I attempted seem to work fine now.”

The tech told me PHP was set to auto update, and that meant it was using latest version of PHP 7.3

He took it back to 7.3 and that didn’t fix it
He took it back to 7.2 and that did fix it

He was doing this at same time as I was disabling plugins, which is why I got confused as to what was the cause.

    From tech supprot chat:

I asked why the error suddenly presented itself:

“The Ultrafast PHP was implemented on our servers recently, about a month and a half ago, but we did not apply it for websites that already existed.

My guess is that the problem has something to do with PHP 7.3, because as I mentioned previously, Ultrafast PHP applies PHP 7.3. It is possible that there was an update inside your application that made that feature incompatible with PHP 7.3.”

OK turns out it was a php conflict

My web host had php on auto update & created the bug/conflict.

    Ignore/delete this

Ah found it – if I drag the widget to a sidebar it does not display the settings, but if I ADD WIDGET it does… ok ignore this
