In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Locations Search Not WorkingAt no point have I asked you to rewrite the whole plug-in to meet my needs alone. If you see that anywhere in my questions, please show it. I am asking exactly what is seen – a couple of specific points. No more. No less! So don’t try to rephrase my questions!
Until another suitable solution can be found, the problems still exists. Category icons and images need to be able to be freely resized by anyone using the program, not just developers. Better and easier control over the look and feel of the Main Calendar window is still needed.
Each of our times are valuable to each of us. Developer time is no more, or less, valuable than user time. High horsemanship is unwanted, and unneeded, negativism.
Question still stands. Please answer as asked. The issue is how to easily set the category icon and image sizes in the main calendar!!
At no point in the program description does it make clear that the program is not for the average user. This needs to be up front especially for the benefit of the average non-programmer who might install it, not knowing its not built for mortals, and wind up with their site stuck in/with it, as happened in this case. I would never have chosen it at all had this important attribute been made clear in the program description.
And, yes, I am looking for a different calendar, more suitable to the wants and needs of my operation.

are yet to be able to be styled as needed and wanted. Icons and images are need to be EASILY sized and placed in the window as wanted, and needed. User-Owner needs to have complete control over look and feel of Main Calendar windows. Word splitting needs to be stopped completely, period! A style change on Main Page and/or Main Calendar should not affect any other pages at all.
Main Calendar window and pop out might benefit from drag-n-drop or table setup.
Easy and succinct way to do this is needed instead of css gobbledegook for an “answer”.
Fast solution would be appreciated.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] NightmareI agree with it being way too complicated. It does work pretty well but don’t try and customize it. No effort has been made to make it friendly to the average user. Documentation is from terrible to useless.

This whole charade started by just trying to change the icon size and position in the main calendar. Quickly found that takes some doing. That unearthed to the need to format the windows in the Main Calendar and Main page. Also found the need to prevent word splitting. Documentation ranges from terrible to nonexistent! Not user friendly. Searches for “icon”, “image”, yield nothing. Admin interface sux, way over complicated! Been using MyCalendar for decade. Site tied to it! Didn’t know it was this ugly underneath. Upgrades have made it worse.
Many, if not most, of us out here in the real world are NOT programmers.
I’m stuck!!

need to be able to have their separate {icon} sizes, type styles, and {image} sizes, independent of main style and/or css, entered freely, and easily, into their individual short codes, or, preferably, directly on the pages they actually reside on.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Locations Search Not WorkingSolution/Work-Around to Difficulty Finding New Entries In Locations Database
NEW posts in Locations database (wp_posts) are created with the type of “post’ and/or have a name that is not a number but make “mc_locations” part of the name. Changing the post to “page” AND/OR removing the mc-locations tag altogether will remedy the inability of the search to find the needed page for this particular situation, allowing the lane finder to work.
This part of issue of not finding searched for facility is “fixed” by manually changing one or both of these. It’s clunky but works, and is much better than nothing for now.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Locations Search Not WorkingOn this page is the help file for icon files:
How is the icon file width and/or height be easily adjusted by using the short-code? Category icons are used on this site in multiple pages where sizes required and wanted, are not the same. There is no mention of icon size in the documentation. Being able to resize category icons freely, is essential.
SVG Files
SVG is a little used file type made by Microsoft. Many programs won’t read it and many more can’t use it. jpg and png files work better for this site partially due to their being standard, easily available, and universally accepted, formats.

The diatribe above is from trying to set the size of the icon on the Main Calendar page. I tried to find how to do this by going to the documentation. {image} and {icon} are not mentioned anywhere I could find. Nothing says succinctly how to customize this particular page. That became the actual issue. Everything is in cryptic, hard to use, stylesheeting and css.
We, as people, are partly disabled each, AND non programmers. Dependence on css doesn’t make things easier, but more difficult, for us.
Needed is the ability to use tables on the main calendar page and/or template(s)!
Also needed is how to prevent word splitting when the word is longer than cell width. The word size needs to change instead until some prescribed size then have the layout scroll. Notice on the sample where the city name is split.
On the details pop-outs, tables can be used to format, but again, there are problems with {icon} and {image}. Some appear, some don’t. Nothing in the documentation tells where these are kept.
In addition, on the Design page is Accessible Color Combinations. Its just a useless, space wasting list, as no selections can be made here. Needs its own page.
Text Size Variables needs simplification. Units need to be common inches and/or pixels like used in most places. (For instance “clamp( .75rem, 14px, 1.5rem)” is foreign language!!)
And when one produces a New Custom Template, allow it to be named “Normally” instead of those long, meaningless, numbers.
Instead of going back into older versions of My Calendar to see where these issues started, lets move forward. There are other factors, out of both our control, like php and WordPress upgrades, that can, and do, cause major headaches. That’s why the use of upgrade stopping plugin.
Thank you.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Locations Search Not WorkingThe version was whatever version was being used in April 2025. I use a plug-in that stopped auto upgrades due to the problems that causes.
When browser searching I use the search mechanism built into browser pages. But I’m looking for events and locations in My Calendar that are not searchable in the browser itself but in Locations and Events. These are what’s slow or nonfunctional. In locations search I can only put in 3 letters before searching ceases to function altogether. This has been happening for a long time (years) and thru several versions. I added the city name for a while but this proved to be too clunky. Events won’t search, and hasn’t worked for a long time – again, years.
Add to that is the inability to freely set up the main window in the Main Calendar for single events. There never has been a way to easily do this, only a bunch of css gobbledygook. This needs to be set up in a drag and drop window of its own, right there on the page with other similar window stuff. At least the details can be styled with a table, but not the main window. I need to be able to set the icon size, for instance, without going thru a bunch of style sheet and/or css crap. There needs to be a box or way to use simple tables where the icon size is in per cent or inches and can be directly input instead of using some buried css or style sheet. Needed is the ability to place items as needed in the main window views in the main calendar – tables. Also, need to be able to freely size the {image}. Right now it does not appear at all in many entries. I have no idea of where they are stored.
How about some better accessibility for non programmers who would like to use the calendar too?! Trying to work with it is unnecessarily complex due to having to go to css and style sheets for most customization. I am partially disabled myself and using WordPress in a nonstandard way. I don’t need a Pro version since the standard version is already overkill. No tickets, or anything else, is/are sold on the site. There are over 6200 locations!
This might be a WordPress issue but every time a media file is added, there are several unneeded files made in different sizes and names. How to prevent, stop, this?! Right now I’m having to remove them manually since they don’t show up on anything but the ftp manager, a real nuisance when only one size is needed or wanted.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Category IconsA pull down seems best here, showing only one category icon at a time, since this particular, peculiar, unique, installation only uses one category per event. All category icons need only to appear on the Categories editing page, not the individual page editing page. Simplifies and unclutters the selection.

In reply to: [My Calendar - Accessible Event Manager] Customize Main CalendarSince the upgrade, the days of the week no longer appear above the week dates. Only Sat & Sun are there. I changed nothing, only ran the upgrade.
This kind of thing is why I run a plugin that stops automatic upgrades.
