Founds that the plugin that my host provider (Blue Host) uses, created a conflict. It didn’t make much sense, but when I disable the plugin, everything works fine.
Have exactly the same issue. Yes, I think this is a bug for more than just the simple-portfolio layout.
After a little more testing, it does not appear the Description option within settings has any affect either. It always displays the Description text no matter which source is selected in settings.
From what I have seen, you get one or both. I don’t see a way to set just the title on the thumbnail and then the Caption on the FooBox image. But I maybe I just can’t find it either.
