…. This has got to be SIMPLE….What am I missing here…
NO NO>.. On the WP BLOG…after a user has logged in , he is taken to the DASHBOARD by default. this is NOT where I want a visitor to go after login. The visitor needs to go DIRECTLY to the “VIEW SITE”, that is the MAIN PAGE of the BLOG and Not the DASHBOARD. I guess my reference to “View Site” is confusing… View Site is on almost all of DASHBOARDS by default. All I am wanting to do is take my elderly visitors directly to the MAIN PAGE of the BLOG by default. Taking visitors to a DASHBOARD is confusing. MOST visitors simply want to see the BLOGs and be able to comment or write a new one.

    Many Thanks

Nothing so far has worked. I must be doing something wrong.
All I want is to have the user go DIRECTLY to the VIEW SITE screen after logging in. Currently they are taken directly to the DASHBOARD after logging in.

    Clayton,
I want the user to go directly to the VIEW SITE after login.
Currently, a new login is directed to the DASHBOARD which is confusing for some older users of the blog.

now, after Logout, it would be nice for them to return to the main page of the website but the most important is that they be directed to the VIEW SITE page immediately after login and not that dashboard.
    Many Thanks !

Well…trying it but not sure this is what I was looking for.
I need a user to go directly to the “VIEW SITE” instead of the DASHBOARD.

I’ll give it a try. Right now, if a user logs in he is presented with the DASHBOARD. I want a visitor to go directly to the Site View after a login. They are confused with a dashboard presentation.
    Thank You !

I think you have a VERY GOOD question here…
I am really interested in some expert responses here.
I may be like you and not want to have my blog incoroporated into my site search engine.
There has to be someone with some search engine experience here…

    fantasy,
I changed to one of the WP default themes (WordPress Classic) and I do see the authors, however, the “WP Default” theme does not show the authors. Do you have other themes that use 2.3 ver that you recommend?
I’d like to have a better looking theme but am hesitant to just throw one in for fear of screwing up something…I sure do not want to lose all the hard work people have put into placing blogs concerning local issues. Many Thanks for your expertise !

Well..well..I was seriously thinking of Upgrading to 2.5…
    HOWEVER….
After reading all this…my gut tells me ..
    Steve, you better wait …

All those folks that have posted local government issues on my current version would be less than unhappy if their well thought out blogs suddenly evaporated !

I think I will keep reading the forum for a few days !

    Jeremy, Who,
I can see the “Customize Permalink Structure” but due to my “newness” I have to just say I have no idea what “pretty permalinks” are…

I think I understand the permalink alteration options I would have in my default 2.33 setup using ONE plugin called “cleaner dashboard”….
and, I think I understand the header.php edit you mentioned. Guess I will have to go and read up on some permalink usage… The quick solution I suppose is to remove the links but then I will never understand “archive and about”….
Any and all suggestions are very welcome….
Thank you both so much for your time !

    Jeremey, Who,

I am going there now to take a look… back shortly.
Who, the blog I was referring to is at perdidobeachonline.com/blog not at friendsofbaldwin.
I suppose FOB has a similar issue also.
I thank you both for hanging in here with me..
    Back Soon

    Jeremy,

Many thanks for the quick reply.
I am not sure if I want to edit and remove the links…but was wondering if I should have placed a page there for the links to open. The folders “archive” and “about” exist and were created by the system, however, there is simply no page to display. the folders are empty. I was thinking that at the least, a default page should have been there. What is your opinion ?
I am new to the system so getting my feet wet quick. Is there an “Archive System” in the WP2.3.3 that can be used in teh future to move older blogs… I apologize in advance if I have missed obvious FAQ’s on this subject.
Your expertise is greatly appreciated !

I have the same issue… I created a new page via manage, pages, create new page using the archive template.. all seems to be ok but I am still getting a ERROR 403 “page not found” when someone clicks on the archives menu… the Dir archives is there but empty.. Same thing with the About page…. Did I miss something during the install ? Those 2 folders are there (archive and about) but both are empty.
    Many Thanks,
    Steve
