Ok… downgrading was simple, but it didn’t fix my problem. Thanks for your help.

I noticed a new pattern with the problem. When ever I upload a file and use it in the same associated new post, it seems to work with the post-image pluggin, and the image displays in the post excerpt.

Now when I try to use an image that has been previously uploaded for another post. The image inside the post doesn’t show up in the post excerpt.

I am getting ready to downgrade to an older version of wordpress to see how it handles. I am clueless at this point, so if there are any ideas or suggestions that may help, please chime in.

    Thanks,
    Orion

Ok… thanks, I will give it a try. And hopefully this will resolve my issue with the Post Image Pluggin. Thanks,

My post-image pluggin suddenly stopped pulling an image from the article for the excerpt, and now it is only showing the default image. I tried taking away the option for displaying the default, and it still didn’t pull an image from a post.

I’m baffled on this one once again, especially since I found a working solution before. I am near tempted to re-install WordPress… I was hoping to avoid this, but I don’t know what else to do. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

    Thanks,

From the guff.szub.net website I adjusted the below feature to “0”.

    “”use_thumb
(boolean) Display the thumbnail rather than the uploaded image attachment itself. Set to TRUE (1) to use thumbnail image. Default is FALSE (0).””

In my CSS I have the image size set to display @ 100x100px, while the original file size is 300x300px. So this actually could be set as a temporary fix, but I am still looking at unnecessary file sizes for the excerpt pages.

There appears to be some sort of a setting I am missing which creates the thumbs and allows them to interact with the post. I have traced it back to the uploading process, but I am still a bit baffled at this point.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

OK, I did another test by uploading a file on my design server which was a shared server(operating on the same version of wordpress), and I noticed that as soon as I upload a jpg a thumbnail of the image is automatically created in the uploads folder, even before viewing a page utilizing the Post Image Pluggin. Not sure if this is something that the Post Image Pluggin does or if it is standard to the WP core, but just more info to consider.

As I have mentioned, my dedicated server does not seem to be creating a thumb file. So I manually created a thumb for an associated post and added the “thumbnail” sub-extension, i.e., changing “imagename.jpg” to “imagename.thumbnail.jpg”. This test did not show the thumb image on the post preview/excerpt page.

I am still jabbing away at this one, so any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Any ideas if there is some sort of a thumb feature that I am missing in either wordpress or the Post Image pluggin? I have set permissions on my uploads folder to 777 for testing, and still no luck in those thumb pics being created.

I will continue pushing ahead on this one, and ideas would be great.

    Moshu,

My goodness. That was it, wow, I am learning something new every day here. Again, thank you so much, you have been so helpful through out my project 🙂

Do you have any idea on the permissions issue? That is something that is a bit strange to me, i.e., not being able to edit pluggin within WP.

I will do a search on “Unix Line Breaks,” for I want to know what this is all about. I did not know what to search before, so I was shooting into space.

    Thanks again,
    Orion

    Ok, here is an update.

    • When I fist download a plugin form the web and upload it to the dedicated server, there is no problem.
    • When I edit it or save it in either Text Edit or Dreamweaver and upload it, it breaks my WP Admin
    • If I edit or save a file in ForgEdit, i’m on a mac, then upload the file, there is no break

And a couple of other interesting things.

    • On my shared serving account (this is where I did the initial developing and design) the files that are uploaded show permissions of 644, and the plugins on the shared server can be edited within WordPress
    • On my dedicated server the files are showing permissions of 664, and I can’t edit them within wordpress unless I set the permissions to 777 (ayeee!)

That is the latest for now. I am committed to figuring out a solution here, and any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey moshu,

Thanks, I checked out instinct before, and was considering them, but after searching the forums, I found many WP users to be running into issues.

I am not sure if this was mostly from older versions, and if they were able to resolve the associated issues/bugs.

If they are stable, for I don’t have to worry to much about losing our database, then this is something that I would consider.

Otherwise, I am leaning towards Zen Cart. I may give it a trial, hoping that the includes (for headers, footers, and etc) aren’t to difficult to work with.

    I also was fairly attracted to… http://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/design.asp

For their e-commerce templates look fairly easy to work with.

Anymore thoughts or ideas from the community are welcomed.

    Thanks,
    Orion

    Hey Community,

I have found a solution, and we are using a folder titled global includes in our root folder. This folder inculdes all includes that are used for the headers, sidebars, banners, and etc.

One note for those who try this, you must include the full url in the include.

    All the Best,

    Hey Community,
I was able to resolve the issue. The CSS was actaully being inherihited differently in IE then it was in Firefox. So I had to change some of my other pages that were using a similar CSS. With the modifcations we were able to get the text to wrap in IE 6.

Also, thanks for the heads up on the validation issue. We took care of the Meta problem and included the appropriate script to at least validate that issue. The others we will have to put on hold for now.

Thank you so much for getting the gears turning.

    All the Best,
    Orion

    Hey Root,
Any suggestions on what I should use, and possibly why?

Thanks, we are getting ready to tackle this now.
