However, I admit to not comprehending it. What I want to do, of course, is just get back in to my dashboard. To me, that seems similar to a problem I might encounter with accessing an online account I have to my bank or to linkedin or to my state bar or to my account at a governmental site — the problem isn’t the absence of the content (which is still there), the problem is I can no longer control its data due to something which has changed without my permission or action.
Your answer seems to contemplate that isn’t the case here — this isn’t a problem on WordPress’s side (like an upgrade that inadvertently contained bugs or triggered unintended consequences) that is readily remediable at WordPress’s end.
If that understanding is correct, then you’ve given me something bigger to think about.
