You can no longer use SMTP in WordPress, unless your server supports port 2525 (the only port enabled in WordPress). For this reason it is recommended to use APIs of different services such as Mailgun, SendGrid, Gmail, among others. The problem with these services in WordPress is that few have official plugins that make’non-official’ attachments unsupported.
