Same problem. Who are all these “subscribers”? There are 4 or 5 daily, clearly automated usernames (eg, dozens of “jacs___@hotmail.com” or “angel___@hotmail.com”, where the dashes are 2 numbers followed by a letter. No comments, no spam. If I trash them all, I may lose a few legitimate followers. Please advise. My site is adamsmolka.com
This is a problem for me too. The user registrations I’m getting don’t appear to be real people; most are hotmail.com and they have obviously machine-generated usernames. Akismet does not seem to filter these out, but is effective in removing spam comments.
