I am having the same issue. I installed ithemes security today and all is well except for the Database-backup. I am getting the following error messages:
Database Backup notification at March 24, 2018 1:50 am: Could not instantiate mail function.
i installed a Check Mail plugin and it shows that WordPress is sending emails fine.
Can anyone suggest how i can rectify this problem?
