In the end I found a plugin to make the changes I needed. It is called Loco Translate and I have now managed to change all the text I wanted to.

Yes but the plugin is $30 and that is all I would be using it for.
Hmm ok. $30 to change 3 lines of text ($10 a line) seems silly. I’m a local business so have no need of translation of my whole site.
I guess I will live with the sentences as they are.
For future versions you might want to change the text to something softer and also correct the grammar in the checkout question to something like:
“Any additional information”

Overall I’m really pleased with the functionality of the plugin.I tried qTranslate but as I mentioned you had to be on the page that had the string you wanted to translate.
If you have a plugin you recommend I’d be happy to give it a try.Sorry but this isn’t very clear. I tried this but the plugins require you to be able to highlight the text strings you want to translate. I can’t see where these text strings are as the page they appear on is in the shortcode [salon/]
