    Thanks for checking.

The current update does not rename previously generated .webp files automatically.

What it does now is generate new sidecar files using the LiteSpeed-friendly pattern, for example:

    image.jpg.webp
    image.png.webp

So if you run optimization again after updating, the plugin will create the new double-extension sidecars, but older single-extension files like image.webp will not be renamed in place.

One important note: I would not recommend re-running the full library casually on a large production site just for filename changes alone, since that means processing the images again.

    Practical guidance:

    • If your current LiteSpeed setup already serves the existing files correctly, you do not need to re-run everything.
    • If you specifically need the new double-extension sidecars, re-running can generate them, but older single-extension files may still remain unless cleaned up manually.
    • At the moment, there is no separate “rename/rebuild sidecars only” tool in the plugin.

If more users need it, I can add a dedicated sidecar migration or rebuild option in a future update.

And if you really like the plugin, please consider leaving a review on WordPress.org — it helps a lot.

    Thanks for pointing this out.

You were right — the plugin was previously generating sidecar files without preserving the original extension in the filename. I’ve now updated it to use a LiteSpeed-friendly naming pattern such as:

    image.jpg.webp
    image.png.avif

That change has been included in version 1.3.2 and pushed to the plugin repository.

    Appreciate you flagging it.

    Dear stexan78

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. I understand how frustrating this issue must be.

The issue has now been fixed, and as soon as the plugin is updated, you will be able to switch back to the Admin role seamlessly.

In the meantime, if you have cPanel access, you can manually update the plugin by downloading the latest version from the following link:

You can then replace the old plugin files with the updated ones to regain role-switching functionality immediately.

Please let me know if you need any assistance. I’m happy to help!

    Best regards,
    Naveen Goyal
