I solved my problem by changing my nameservers. This is because I have 2 domains running on same hostgator account so the second domain has to have the same nameservers as the first domain. I had to change the nameservers through namecheap which is where I actually bought the domains rather than hostgator who is hosting the domains!
I am not sure if it will be the problem in your case if it’s only your first site, but it’s worth checking I guess if you haven’t yet solved your problem. The livechat guys talked me through it.

Hello, I have just had the exact same problem so would be equally interested in a response to this. Only difference in my case is that it’s the 2nd installation I have done, as I successfully installed on a website last week but this time it’s not working. So don’t know if that has an effect.
