    Hi, again,

I just thought I’d ask if anyone has tried to look into this, er, adorable problem and just hasn’t been able to figure it out yet, or whether no one has had the opportunity or the, hmmmmm, interest, shall we say?

I’ll need to move on to a different plugin, of course, if this doesn’t get fixed. I like the plugin, so I really hope “we,” which means someone who knows more about this than I do, can fix it.

But the way it looks now is, er, well, not ok, ya know?

    Thanks so much,
    Susan

    Emanuele and Takayuki,

Wonderful!!! Thanks for the extra work, Emanuele, to get keypic to work with Contact Form 7. I found that Really Sweet Captcha was able to do only some of what it claimed, plus I’d lost so much faith in captchas, in general. The Internet bots can produce TONS of spam regardless.

So, once again, thank you soooooo much!

    Nelra,

I was gone for two weeks. Sorry for the delay.

Can you repeat your request in English for those of us who are new to WordPress and CSS? Thanks.

    Yani,

Hi, again. I’m sure you got my email letting you know that I LOVE the work you did. Wonderful, wonderful!

I do have “just” one, little question. (Isn’t that what everyone says? LOL.) I did browse the whole website, and everything seemed terrific after your work. I didn’t think to try, say, changing any of the colors of things like the DONATE button or the background color for the slider. These are both defined in the Option Tree. Dummy me, right?

In any case, this came up today because there’s a reason to change the second color on the DONATE button to purple. When I go to Option Tree, one of the selections on the Dashboard, and click in the text line that has the hex code for the color, this used to bring up the colorpicker. Now, nothing happens. Also, I used to be able just to type in a new hex color code and hit save changes. Now, nothing is changed; it just keeps the current color, no matter what.

I can’t imagine how this has to do with your work, yet I never had a problem with changing this before. Can you think of how this would be connected?

    Thanks again for everything,
    Susan

    Yani,

Well, I will still SUGGEST that you get a gold star. LOL.

I’ll fill out the form and request you be assigned to the project. Heck, you may figure out the last part of this problem in almost no time, though I assume SEED has a minimum time amount it will bill for.

This way, I can get back to doing ALL the other things I need to be working on, and you will know even before I do what the fix is in the future for all Politico users.

thanks again for all your many efforts–and for the upcoming ones, too,
    Susan

    Yani,

I think that you can find it faster, since you have almost found it already. Plus I’d rather support the people who have helped above and beyond rather than just saying, “Ooops, third party. We’re done.”

I’m at a point where I would need to learn more about coding again than I really want to right now in my life to fix this. I can fiddle enough to make some modifications, which is all I really need to do. I need to be getting people to add the content to the web-site, ya know?

I think that really what may be necessary is to have just one page.php, but have an IF..Else in it that executes only the original part if it’s the usual POST and only the single-ai1ec-event if it’s from the calendar–or something like that????–but I don’t know how to do that.

Or the section in Style.CSS called “Post Stuff” needs to be repeated, but renamed and redefined for .ai1ec. Right? But again, this is where my understanding fails, because I’m not sure exactly what’s necessary, even in terms of the correct characters. (Should I use the “.” here, or is it the “#” in this position? See what I mean? LOL.)

In any case, I’m working as a volunteer. But I guess I’m willing to pay for an hour’s work. It might take even less than that at this point. What do I do from here to get premium support?

And will you get a gold star from it? You MUST!

    thanks again for everything,
    Susan

    Yani,

What a sweetheart to be working on this on the week-end!

The single.php in Politico has ONLY the code that is in the first part of the single-ai1ec_event.php file. That is, it merely finds the post–or runs through them–displays it (or them), then quits. At least, that’s the way I read the code. That is ALL there is to single.php.

I have found some “Post Stuff” lines in Style.CSS which may be interfering with ai1ec’s setting a different kind of post. As I’ve mentioned, I’m new enough to this coding that I’ve had to ask a friend to look at it. He’s VERY busy, so he won’t be able to look at it until probably Monday.

I’d be delighted, as I’ve mentioned, to give you access; but since this really is theme related, you have already gone above and beyond any support “duty” from ai1ec!!! Rest assured that I will be singing the praises of your calendar AND your support services to one and all!

And, should we determine the problem within the theme, I’ll be sure to let you know so that you can let any Politico users know in the future.

Thanks again, you’ve been a dear,
    Susan

    Yani,

Shoot. And there I was all excited, but it was a no go.

Looking through the code, however, I see tons of references to “twentyeleven.” Should I change every single one of those references to the theme I’m using?

Of course, if I do that, then it wouldn’t work if I ever changed themes, right?

The calendar code “calls” this single-ai1ec_event, right? So how can it not work?????? (Again, I’m new to WordPress and CSS, so if “call” is the wrong term, please forgive.)

    Jonatello and Yani,

Actually, Jonatello, Yani was VERY specific about where to look. I kept thinking it had to do with displaying some kind of page or post, but I’m new enough to this that I didn’t know where to look. Yani was very clear without being able to know EVERY theme on the market.

Thanks again, Yani. I’m in the middle of something else right now, but I will certainly let you know whether this fixes the problem. I have a strong feeling that it will.

    You’re the best,
    Susan

    Yani,

And one last, before I leave you alone. (Yes, I have left a post on Politico’s forum.) What was the problem that YOU found? I mean, what is it that I’m looking for?

What you found was in the event.php, and the problem is in displaying the details page; so that fits. Is there anything else that can help restrict the area of code that I’d need to look at–or the specific variables?

    thanks again,
    Susan

    Yani,

Yup, it’s the theme. Rats. That may mean another LONG wait for a fix, because the other calendars will have the same problem, since it’s NOT the calendars.

I did earlier deactivate all other plugins except those necessary for this theme, Option Tree and WP-PageNavi. Hmmmm, I wonder what mess I’d get if I deactivated them, too, especially the latter . . .

    http://www.alec-destroys-democracy.org

thanks again for all your work and help,
    Susan

    Yani,

Hmmm, since this fix DID correct the problem for birdav–and probably others–there is a good chance it’s the theme. Shoot.

I’ll go try switching to 2011. I’m still new to all this, so I’m unnerved by switching themes; but how else do I get UNnew to it, right?

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

    thanks again,
    Susan

    Yani,

Thank you for all your hard work, but this fix didn’t solve the problem for me. Perhaps it is the theme, which is Molitor’s Politico for me; but still, it’s a HUGE disappointment.

I was just about to go on with my long list of other calendars when I saw your email. I shall continue that list. Of course, if it is the theme, then I suppose I’ll have the same problem. I’ll post on the Politico forum to see if they’ve heard about problems with calendars, but I haven’t seen other posts about them so far.

Again, thank you for all your work. I’d be happy to give you access to my site, but I’m about to switch to other calendars, sooooooo . . .

    Susan

Mine doesn’t even show that there’s an update available. But, because it doesn’t fix our problem–darn it–I’m not going to worry about it. I didn’t think it was intended to either, but we could always hope, right?

I tried a SLEW of other calendars over the week-end, and each of them had something that didn’t work, too–or they had something that didn’t fit for what I need. But I guess I’d better go back to looking.

    Rats.

    Yani,

Are you saying that you think today’s release will fix this problem? Or are you saying that you think it may be another week or longer? For those of us who are trying to go live, that seems sooooooo long. I know it isn’t really, and I KNOW you all are working VERY HARD. Really I do!!

    It’s just . . .
