    so to conclude.

    • uploaded schema file that was missing on host server should be 603 files
    • attempted to run installer using IP/~user = failed due to server security configurations
    • schema file that was not included on the hosts setup edited to fit.
    • manually inserted sql file
    • tested the IP/wordpress/ works.

    thank you for telling me the file its in (which seems to be missing from the tar file that was uploaded to the server – total files in the folder 601), perhaps add to a wiki or the docs.

    no comments made about attitude (or the fact ‘client’ is a loosely used term’, as i have been rather direct in language , as someone who is running from typepad, drupal and boonex who has been told to install this on a vps running hypervm that doesnt even have a 2.x series of wordpress in its install aps, on its a bit confusing as i have never used wordpress before.

    also a dummy sql database would have included the information that would then have to be ripped out, and wordpress cant install on an IP address only it seems.

    I will let you know if i get it working that way.

    run the installer script at some point to create the database tables

    I should need to, basically its the same as a site/database without the existing posts etc

    Your best bet is wait until the dns is propogated…should be done by now and install the “traditional” way.

    sorry cant do that on either count. eg the blog must have no apparent down time and i will not get a message when the dns has progoated to my server and then 4 hours later to the clients IP for us to set up the blog

    wanted to do that manually as well you could grab the sql code from the source,

    which is what i want to do, as i said at the start, if i could work out and strip out the required information, then i would have.

    All i really need is a sql code dump of the sample data installed at the begining, without having to make a site that will then be wrong.

    thanks but…

    I want to do a manual inmstallation of WP 2.7
    eg this is not a 5 minute whiz,
    i want to manually insert the tables, manually edit the config file.

    The reason is that the site will be on a new host prior to dns prop.

    or in other words.. i can NOT run the installer script.
