I did read the link and followed the steps during my installations. There is one important difference between the docs and my setup. The docs assume the WP installation is at http://example.com/wordpress/ and the blog is at http://example.com/ In my case the blog URI would be http://example.com/blog This one change seems to make all the difference. If other people have not faced this problem, it is obviously something that I am doing wrong. On my part, I tried the installation about five different times includign dropping the database and verified the problem before posting a note.
I have fixed my problem by installing WP in /blog and getting the blog up and running. Would have loved to keep the two separate.
I do not know who Robin is but my website is still down because of the bug I have reported here.
Is there another location to file bug reports?
