Yes I installed the Domain mapping plugin, but I found the documentation a bit light. So I made a few assumptions, and this is where I went wrong.
I have since walked away from the computer and let things percolate, and have found the trouble, otto kept saying in his documentation for the domain mapping plugin that it was simple and it was the very simplicity that confounded me.
So revisiting the docs and doing exactly what was asked and NO more and it all works fine.
So for anyone else out there, follow the docs dont assume as I did that it cannot be that simple, it is.
