I had the same error. I found if I deactivated Jetpack, upgraded, then reactivated it worked.
I had to link to WordPress.com again however.
This could definitely be improved.

yeah, forgot to say I tried it in IE and firefox. I do have a wordpress blog (not a wordpress.com blog) and I tried logging out of that but that didn’t help.
Somehow I did eventually manage to create a wordpress.com blog, and after that the aformentioned links work correctly, linking to <domain>.wordpress.com
Oh, and I realise this site isn’t ‘meant’ for wordpress.com support, but this seems like it needed raising to someone, and I couldn’t find (or access, due to the bug) any way of contacting support for the said site.
