Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: ListingPress] 500 hundred dollars? How is that Free?I think ListingPress assumes that most people who want to do this are Real Estate agents who are aware of the use of data restrictions. Other “IDX/MLS Listing/Real Estate website companies” who do this only provide a one size fits all solution and would never, ever let you see their code or customize it. The plugin was released Open Source to encourage innovation, which frankly, I think was against ListingPress’s own self-interest.
The company is still working on various features, but the plugin is working well enough that I have customized it and created designs for real estate agents in several markets.
http://www.TheLocalExpert.com has a bit more on what we are doing. You can also contact me directly through this site or http://www.SamIngersoll.com
If you are an agent, I’d be happy to help you integrate listings into your WordPress blog. If you are not an agent, there is a unique way that you can partner with an agent to get the same effect, and share costs using WordPress MU.
If you want to let people search for listings, foreclosures, etc… I’d recommend http://www.RealBird.com Their data is from Google Base and doesn’t have all the listings, but enough that you can use their system to make your site more sticky and capture leads.
Of course, if you are devious, there are other ways to get any data you want from anywhere into a website. I mention that because MLS Boards attempts to control data can be easily circumvented. Had they provided their agents with better tools, there would be no need for 3rd party guys like me.
