Thanks for the steer. Got part of the way but the error message I originally reported appears instead of an editor opening. Only options are “Leave page as it is”, “Delete block” or “Convert to HTML”. So I did the last of those and opened the HTML editor. Couldn’t see the Beaver Builder code to delete but there was a “Save as block” option so I tried that. The new block has a rudimentary editor which enabled me to make the changes I needed to make. So mission accomplished albeit in an unsatisfactory way. Now just need to sort out all the other affected pages and look for a better editor. Thanks again.
Thank you for that suggestion. I installed Health Check which disabled all plugins and switched to Twenty Twenty. When I attempted to edit the problem page the error message was exactly the same as before.
Is there a way I can submit the screen snip that I took of the entire message?
By the way when I installed Health Check I was warned that it had not been tested with my version of WP (5.5).

In reply to: Checksum error when updating to WordPress 4.9.4–en_GB automaticallyFor information, Fasthosts has succeeded in updating me to 4.9.4 using the one-click facility available on the control panel rather than the WP dashboard.

In reply to: Checksum error when updating to WordPress 4.9.4–en_GB automaticallyThanks for your help. Confirmation of the expected checksum was useful. I am now having a constructive (so far!) dialogue with Fasthosts about the download to the server failing. They’ve asked for some screen shots of my WP dashboard before attempting to replicate the issue at their end.
A manual upgrade would be a last resort for me. I’ve studied the instructions and concluded that it would take me well beyond my comfort zone.

In reply to: Checksum error when updating to WordPress 4.9.4–en_GB automaticallyHi Steve,
Thanks for responding. I have been trying the update regularly since it first appeared on the dashboard in the hope that it might work “next time”. There was a checksum error each time although I didn’t inspect the values. However, I have tried again after seeing your post with the new result below. This looks exactly the same as the earlier attempt today that I reported above.Update WordPress
Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/en_GB/wordpress-4.9.4.zip…
Download failed.: The checksum of the file (5ab47f158e0ed40df6537f81591a75b1) does not match the expected checksum value (f2ceac29288e482594da7c23fd434ef9).
Installation FailedI originally installed 4.8.3 in mid-November and subsequently updated to 4.9.2 successfully. I am at a loss to understand why this new update shouldn’t also work.
