Yes, that was the issue. Bad news for me presently. But going forward I can safely make mistakes again!
Would that have been disabled by a past developer on the site, or is that the default?

The video shows WordPress a few years ago. In the latest version 4.9.4 I’m not seeing page or post revisions anywhere! There isn’t an option in Screen Settings and the Revisions choice isn’t appearing in the publish metabox.
