I have 3 blogs on wordpress, I created all 3 via my host provider, registering the domain, creating a mysql database, and uploading wordpress via ftp client.I found the easiest thing to do is create a new blog at wordpress.com, establish new domain at host, create mysql database, then import wp 3.1.1 and then exprot wp blog and import it into your new blog.
Here is the docs for multiple blogs at wp. They mention about needing a separate mysql database.

No you could do it in 5 mins once your use to it. Had some issues setting up the first one, web host had to update the php on there side and then was able to install without a problem.
The recommended hosts they have probably have automatic uploads , so you might want to work with one of those if you can.

I had something similiar happen trying to setup my site, I never got wp-config file to come up. I tryed also to create a config file in Dreamweaver and install it via ftp and that didnt work either.
I had to get the php to get updated, worked with someone over at my host.
Sounds like you can check
Apache 2.2.17
PHP 5.3.4
MySQL 5.1.53
see if they are the latest and newest needed, can always reinstall.Hope that helps.
On another note. Sounds kind of silly? I still have my blogs at wp.com and have moved them over to wp.org with my host. In fact there under maintenance know. I know I can mark my blogs as private over at wp.com, but is there anything else I need to do? i did have some contacts over there, like the forums and did like to browse freshly pressed etc occasionally. I didn’t have much traffic only around 20 to 40 hits a day.
I would like to direct people to my domain, and I dont want to update both sites, just the domain.
