I have no desire for a brute force protection plugin. 2FA OTP works for me. But I am not the admin of the site, just a contributor, so its not my call. Plus this issue is impacting my ability to get support for all wordpress plugins, because your broken email links prevents me from logging into wordpress.org itself.

I’m going to mark this as unresolved until the issue is actually resolved, either here in the forums or via email. If that breaks somones workflow sorry bout that, but this is the only public accountability mechanism I have available to me.

oh for petes sake @htdat. This issue is not resolved, please dont mark it as resolved until it is actually resolved. I would not have used the contact form if I had known you would use it as an excuse to lessen the (incredibly mild) public pressure a public support ticket causes.

I have not yet heard back from your team via email. Do I need to submit another ticket in order to send screenshots?

The issue with the email is not unique to our particular wordpress instence. Every time I try to log into this forum at https://wordpress.org I have to enter an email address to unlock https://wordpress.org, but the email link you send is broken, which means I have to manually set up a terrible hacked together VPN chain on a separate laptop just to login to this forum get support. All because you guys throw up an arbitrary roadblock for the most widely used software that protects peoples saftey.

Here is the redacted email you guys sent me when I tried to log into https://wordpress.org. I pulled this from the raw source of the email you sent, it looks the same in thunderbird:

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
    --REDACTED
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

    Unlock your site

Clicking the link below will allow you to either attempt additional login attempts or change your password for your WordPress site for 15 minutes.

Login Link:https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/v1.1/sites/REDACTED Reset Your Password Link:https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/v1.1/sites/REDACTED

If you did not request this e-mail, please be advised that there may be an unauthorized attempt to log into your site and you can ignore this e-mail.

    ------------------------

I need to create a new wordpress.com account in order to contact you via that form, which will take a while, because creating accounts means creating anew throw away email address, which is also a pain.

I don’t really understand, actually. This is crazy, because your plugin becomes unusable at the free level, and this design decision is not at all communicated in the description of the plugin.

People who donate are going to want to see that their contribution went through and that everything is working. If they have to wait for me to login and manually verify every single transaction, they wont see that their contribution made a difference, and they will be less likely to donate again and less likely to share.

Updating automatically is a *core* functionality of crowdfunding! whats the point of doing it if potential doners cant see that their donation is having an impact?
