That might have done it, but I already solved the problem using this solution https://wordpress.org/support/topic/read-more-to-rotator?replies=7. The structure of my back end got a lot simpler since the testimonial is the post itself. Before, I had a separate post for every testimonial and their contents had to be updated separately.
