Manually re-installing with a FTP client and over-writing the existing files is probably your safest bet.

What do you mean by “over-writing the existing files “. Does this mean that I have to re-load all of my hundreds of images that I have added titles, alt text and cropping to the thumbnails? Is so, is there any way to go back to the older version of wordpress?
I am having the same problem.
Clearing the cache works on the local host. Thanks photocrati!

Building my site on mac with MAMP/local hostYou’re right. I was tearing my hair out but when I came back and checked it the next morning it was working fine. Strange. ???????
I have a similar problem. I can get the description/caption to work on a few images, then I update the page and I can see the descriptions but when I try to add more descriptions/captions, they don’t display. When I open the page in another browser and view the source code, the “title” tag on the new image descriptions is blank.
Originally it worked without adding [template=caption] but it doesn’t work either with or without.

Building my site on mac with MAMP/local hostWhen I first started working with the NextGen Gallery, I would insert the gallery into the page and then view the published page. At first the thumbnails would appear on the published page. As I added more photos to the gallery and changed the order of the photos, the published page would open in the slide show view instead of the thumbnail view. Is there a setting to choose which view the page opens in?
I see the thumbnails when I insert the slideshow initially but when I open the page later, it opens in the slideshow mode.
