I tried using the Convert Post Types plug-in, but this only shows existing “posts”, not the old “portfolio” items.

I cannot access FTP for my new or old site to change/edit/delete/upload any files. When I attempt to log in to phpMyAdmin, I get an error message that the server is not responding.
