Don’t suppose I could trouble you with the last query. I fear if I can get padding sorted will be out of your hair.
When coloring the background of columns, the text is close to top border and could come down abit, same all round column really + is there a way to have padding between the columns, right now they sit flat against each other.
I cant get your shortcode to work.

Not sure. Tried columns bg shortcode, works, tks, but would need way to separate each column from being flush against each other as playing with layout in gp no budge or padding shortcode.

Tbh, be nice to get GB going, as you recommend. Perhaps latest wp block editor is conflicting with yours… plus is yours what I see when I see the block add sign top left or is that wordpresses blocks.
Also, can’t seem to access html part of page, wp blocks issue perhaps.
edit – just seen your reply, let me update and check (tells me “Thank you for updating to the latest version!” not quite sure why not prompting me to update from WordPress 5.1.4.

GB unless I upload manually wont perform like it says on the tin. In the process of enabling disabling plugins I have somehow delted css in my custom styles within a listdom plugin which is running the theme (idea) of the site which I did not touch in the enabling disabling so currently head wracked with that.
I’ll give yours another shot when css saved.

Deleted then retried adding it and getting – Error: This plugin requires a newer version of PHP
Not quite sure what’s a happening….running Version: 2.2.2. Update last time caused problem with my plugin theme if u like – it was discussed here, i’ll try track down thread, smth to do with listdom css guy not doing smt right.
Have contacted listdom guy to try to rtn plugin to how it was..imagine will get same php error when done… so may inquire as to correct next step.
Also Tom, while I have you here 😉 The reason I’m here is as stated in op, to how designate columns and full width to build homepage.
I almost had it with your very straight forward lightweight columns plugin, but couldn’t figure out – if possible – how to change background color of a column – as mentioned back here https://wordpress.org/support/topic/possible-to-change-background-color-2/
If it is possible, will stick with columns.

Note – every time i “activate” guttenburg https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg – it reappears in innactive plugin list after appearing in active – it reverts back to being inactive. Deleted it and still no column width slider

I open up an existing published or draft page – i do not see that plus in a circle sign or a box to tick under screen options to “open the GenerateBlocks category”.. missing a trick here?
