I think that you might want to create a css rule such as the following and put it at the bottom of your events.css file.

I’d prefer to just create a Page called “Calendar” on the left and include code that draws the calendar in it’s largest format like how people on other blogs have done. I found one here using the larger view, http://www.boatingwinnebago.com/category/events/month/
