Thanks for that.
After a little reading, it seems I need a ‘Theme’ with many menus but I could not find a Themes feature list that specified the number of menus for each. Opening and examining them one by one would take too long. The themes I initially favoured only offer 1 or 2 menus.
I did find forum postings by people asking a similar question to mine but none that had a useable response. I also found a few suggestions which required script changes that went beyond “simply”.
It is now a fresh day, I’ll give WP one more chance to “simply create” and “easily add functions” before I abandon ship.
