I am one of the many people who want line breaks, but I have no tinyMCE config file which is part of the solution in this post. So I wonder if tinyMCE is even configured for my system. I deleted the entire folder and got a couple one-time errors, and otherwise nothing was affected.
I think this general problem has at least two different root causes for different users. I could be wrong but that;s what I am working with now.

It seems like this problem is widespread and can be caused by different pieces of the system, so there is no easy answer.
Some people want space, some people have spaces but but don’t want them!!
I am trying to understand the problem, right not I guess its not a bug but just the way each theme works with WP to handle the content.

Oh wow thanks mrmist, I noticed that mispelling but didn’t realize it mattered to the code 😉 As I said I am not a tech person.
Yes Jeremy it turns out I have version 1.5.4., or so it says in my stylesheet…not sure how that happened, I downloaded from here maybe 2 weeks ago?
Anyway loving the theme even more now, I have custom rotating headers (yeah I am not artistic either, what can you do?) already and all the colors are tweaked.
So thanks for the advice!
