Oh son of a gun! like 10 seconds after I posted I figured it out after I decided to point my domains back to the old server.
Apparently DNS is not resolving yet. It was working the whole time but it was updating the old server since the ftp user/pass where the same it didn’t fail i guess?
Changed it to the IP for host for now.. works fine. /sigh
