Hi, ok work done.. Here is what i figured out. The changes in FTP mode take some time to reflect… about 20 mins(gave me a heart attack). A 755 permission base was more than enough for the upgrade. I use wordpress update plugin to get the job done and it worked like a breeze.

@wpbum Tried the file manager approach with Cpanel.. no use there.. same output… rather no output.
Thanks esmi setting the permalinks back to numeric solved it
i had /%postname%/ in the custom permalinks box before.
Can you tell me what went wrong with it?
I believe using the postname as the link helps in SEO.
