In reply to: Looking for a theme that can have multiple blog pagesIt is configured for static. But when I unchecked it I don’t have the option to assign a blog page and none of the posts appear. I can only access them through the menus I set up.
I feel am missing something very basic. Is there a GOOD tutorial you can recommend. The one I was following is not useful for this problem.

I thought this should be easy but it’s not obvious to a newbie. Anything I create as a post ends up on the page I designated as ‘blog’ regardless of what category I assign to it. And the page designated at ‘front’ is blank. I tried linking to the post on the front page, it wasn’t ideal but I wanted to see something work. Just the link was displayed, it didn’t embed the content. I will take another look at how categories are supposed to work and see if I’m using it wrong.

Thanks so much for getting back to me.
I am not working live on my site. Nt is still not doing what I want. What I am trying to do is to have the latest post from a dynamic page show up on my static home page. It sounds like it should be a simple thing but I can’t see how to do it.

I went back this morning and removed the permalink and I got the embedded post back on the front page, although it didn’t display the image I had with the text.
I will look at the link you suggest when I get back from work, hopefully if can explain how to get embedded posts when assigning permalinks.
I’m not a programmer so I’m not sure how to use the code you suggest.
