There is something strange. The curl was already activated. I just tested again the plugin on both servers and this time it worked.
Probably the plugin calls online some function that was updated, otherwise I can’t explain this behavior.

I don’t think it’s about permissions.
I tried on different servers also: on a hosting server and on a local virtual machine where are no restrictions. In all the cases the results were the same, no featured image.
If I receive something, I’ll post the solution.

I even wrote to the developer but I haven’t received any solution yet.
