In reply to: W3 Total Cache – FTP Self Hosted CDN Option – Can’t Get it to Work@strictlyonlinebiz – that’s a nice, straightforward tutorial that you put together. Unfortunately, the CDN option still doesn’t work – I learned to live without it π
My host doesn’t use public_html – my root looks something like (fatcow hosting) /home/users/web/***/moo.username/CDN – but even with that, it fails. Oddly, when it says that it is trying to upload a test file into the wp uploads, it always says it fails…but the test files actually do make it into the upload folder when I check via ftp – and yea, using an ftp client works fine.

In reply to: [Plugin: W3 Total Cache] CDN Configuration ProblemsThat means that the FTP user doesn’t have permissions to upload. So there’s an issue with your FTP account.
Does that mean that the ftp user needs access to both the subdomain folder AND the WP Uploads folder?
I gave complete access but still get the test failed errors

In reply to: [Plugin: Shorten2Ping] ver. 1.3 – Change Bit.ly to J.mp using the editorWhen links go through ping.fm, they get converted to ping shortlinks.
For instance, I tweeted through ping.fm:
If you want me to listen to it, read it, critique it or comment on it, then post it, or link it in my forum – register: http://j.mp/9iJNY5
Ping.fm turned the j.mp link into http://ping.fm/5QU7i when it posted to my social networks.
However, it did not convert bit.ly links, they stayed the same. That was why I started this thread, because I wanted to use j.mp. However, now it seems like it no longer converts anything π When it converted the links, ping.fm also tracked analytics for the links.

In reply to: [Plugin: Shorten2Ping] ver. 1.3 – Change Bit.ly to J.mp using the editorAnd in the end, it doesn’t matter anyway :)) Just like bit.ly links, ping.fm no longer converts j.mp links. Glad you added the wp.me, cuz that’s what I’ll be using now!

In reply to: [Plugin: Shorten2Ping] ver. 1.3 – Change Bit.ly to J.mp using the editorIn that case I will wait for the final release. I will delete my old copy and its options table entry and install the new one. I am sure it will be fine.
Thank you for all of your help though! I respect the fact that you took the time out to deal with me and my situation.

In reply to: [Plugin: Shorten2Ping] ver. 1.3 – Change Bit.ly to J.mp using the editorMy computer was down for a few days. I finally got to try again today. It still does not work. It is not creating the j.mp link, but it is posting from ping. So just like before I got a status update, but no link attached.
I’ll wait for your next trunk update! If you need anymore detailed info, tell me how to get it and I’ll give it to you.

In reply to: [Plugin: Shorten2Ping] ver. 1.3 – Change Bit.ly to J.mp using the editorI used the new version and deactivated and then activated the plugin. The credentials stuck this time, but when a new post was created, no link was created with it.
The text of the posting came out, but the j.mp link never made it to Ping, so it came out looking like this:
Where the link would come after the “-”

In reply to: [Plugin: Shorten2Ping] ver. 1.3 – Change Bit.ly to J.mp using the editorAlas, it did not work. When putting the API login credentials in for j.mp, after saving, they disappear. I suspect something is missing, maybe just a snippet of code or something, I cannot say, as I am ignorant of such things :))
However, the j.mp credentials are exactly the same as the bit.ly ones, maybe something can be done with that.

In reply to: [Plugin: Shorten2Ping] ver. 1.3 – Change Bit.ly to J.mp using the editorThanks! I installed the new script a day or so ago…but I haven’t actually made a new post yet :)) I will do so tonight or tomorrow and report the results back here.

In reply to: WordPress Page As Main Page – The rest of the blog as subdomainThanks esmi, I had read that before, but it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for – unless i wasn’t understanding it correctly – however, no longer matters – I said f*ck it and just moved wordpress to the root – I was wasting too much time, I’ll learn to deal with it π
