Just a quick update.
I spoke to the site designer and he states there is some plugin conflict due to some updates. Whats the best way to revert to previous changes within wordpress?

Thanks for responding. Yes, we have contacted the site designer. He has not responded as yet.
The default image is coming from.
http://lso.ac.uk/wp-content/themes/university/images/default-photo-blog-square.jpg
but there is no way to change it, we just get something called visual composer that does not give options to change images.
