Thank you so much for your help with this. It’s been really useful. I think I am at last getting closer to resolving it once and for all.

I have now setup a staging site and run some test and it does appear that potentially some users share the same user id. It seems there might be some old orders, perhaps from a former installation that have been retained in the database, but the user record itself has gone. New customers have been created which then perhaps have ended up with a user id that is related to an order placed by someone else. So the problem I think has been identified, but now I am left with the issue about how best to deal with it. If you have any recommendations I would be very grateful.

I do not think you are going to see the issue unless you are logged in on my site. Presumably I am seeing this issue due to corrupt data since if it was happending on every woocommerce site they would be finsihed as an ecommerce platfrom.

Isa there a utility I can run perhaps that will alow me to identify users that for whatever reason share the same ID since I am pretty sure this must be the issue.

These questions are tricky to anser accuratly but here goes

    – How many customers have reported this issue so far?

I have had about 10 reported cases like this so far.

    – Have you been able to reproduce the issue yourself, and does it occur consistently each time you test?

No it’s not something I can reproduce – until someone reports the issue it’s impossible to identify which accounts might be affected.

    – Is this affecting all customer accounts or only specific ones?

Again I am not really sure beacuse as stated above I need the users to report the issue.

    – In your previous message, you mentioned noticing this when checking customer orders. Could you clarify how you accessed those orders? Did you log into the accounts of customers A and B to confirm it directly, or did you create test accounts to reproduce the behavior?

To view the problem once someone has reported the isssue I go to woocommerce > Orders – then I enter the users email in the search box and filter the orders – then I go into the order and click – view other orders – then I see the list of orders from ‘that user’ but in the case of the reported issue this is where I see orders from other customers as well.

    – What was the last action you performed on the website before observing this issue? For instance, did you make any database changes, particularly involving the orders tables?

I have not made any database changes. This site has been running for years and it’s probably only in the last year or so these errors seem to have crept in.

I have tried to diagnose this issue in more detail and have found that if I look at the orders of a particualr customer – lets call them Customer A, they can also see orders and personal details of Customer B. If I then look at orders from Customer B, they can also see orders and personal details of customer A.

It seems to me the issue is that they might be somehow sharing a customer ID number but I cannot see how to verify this. All cacheing and optimisation plugins have been disabled but the problem remains.

Thank you for responding to this. I actually have all the caching turned off since someone a while ago suggested it was something to do with this. I have now also delete WP Optimise but even after then clearing the cache I am still seeing the same issue.

I cannot believe that Woocommerce would be so badly coded that it would show unrelated users accounts and order just due to a caching setting so I feel the problem must be deeper routed.
