Line 4 is the line containing get_header().

The header block I edited (and restored) is later – all versions of index.php in my domain (root, theme, etc) are currently identical to the default in the Journalized Blue theme. WTF ?

    I’m using “Journalized Blue” theme.

As I said, even if I did make an error editing first time – I’ve re-uploaded the original theme and re-set as the active theme – the edited file is long gone.

I’m pretty sure I’m using ascii mode in Filezilla (in fact I have auto set.)

In my short experience DreamHost are fine for hosting – but their WordPress install is not problem free, and so far they have not responded to any support requests. This forum remains the best hope.

    Help !

(See other threads “help with install” and “idiot’s guide”.)

Me too (started my own thread -“Idiot’s Guide”)

I’m using DreamHost and their advertised One-Click install – but no such luck. Worse still I can’t get any human support from them.

(All their registration and hosting seems fine – just no WordPress install support – so far)

I’m beginningto think I should just wipe the wordpress files and start my own install – my main lack of confidence is understanding the MySQL config details.

I did, but all I get is errors.

The “install.php” file is not in the wordpress/wp-admin directory – so all I get is Not Found. Nor is there a “readme.html”. I can find neither file in any directory.

Surely, (and I’m no Unix geek) the point of a “Cron” is “time”.

A Unix (any) programme set to run at a given time(s). What it does is whatever the programme does – practically anything – anything you might want to run at a given time.
