In reply to: [ActivityPub] Blog federated but not showing on MastodonHi @nelas, actually I had a long, long conversation with SiteGround support: I suggest you to open a ticket to make the webfiger file reachable, they’ve been very kind to support me on this, on a single website basis.
Still, I find the federation confusing: my profile shows on mastodon.social but not, for example, on mastodon.uno and other instances.

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Blog federated but not showing on MastodonMaybe it’s time to move to another hosting provider more open to W3C standards… Can you suggest some alternatives? Thanks

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Blog federated but not showing on MastodonHi Mathias, this is the reply I get from SiteGround:
“The check from https://webfinger.net/lookup/?resource=weblog%40ipertesti.it was initially denied with 403 because it matched one of our ModSecurity rules.
In particular it uses “Go-http-client/2.0” as User-Agent.
This is the default User-Agent in the HTTP Go library and many malicious bots/scripts use it. This is why we deny requests from that User-Agent by default.
The solution is quite simple: the developer should modify the code of the webfinger.net checker and set a custom User-Agent, for example “WebFinger Checker” or something else.)”Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [ActivityPub] Blog federated but not showing on MastodonThanks, Matthias. Still chatting with SiteGround to see if they finally fix this.

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Blog federated but not showing on MastodonI spoke with SiteGround support and they suggest the following question to verify the matter even on their side:
1) is the plugin compatible with installing WordPress Method II subdirectory. If you make any changes to the plugin settings in the setup subdirectory.
2) What are the exact endpoints SiteGround are blocking? How can they recreate one of these requests on their part?
3) When using the Method II subdirectory setting what is the exact address the request is sent to? It is https://ipertesti.it/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:weblog@ipertesti.it or it is https://ipertesti.it/blog/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:weblog@ ipertesti.it.
4) What errors do they see on your side? And what changes should be made in SiteGround infrastructure based on them?

In reply to: [ActivityPub] Blog federated but not showing on MastodonThanks for your reply and for your work, Matthias. That’s too bad, I will try to contact them on my side.
Thank you, Jeremy, it works well after clearing browser cache on desktop too!
Checking from iOS, where it works, it may be a simple local cache issue.
Me too, I confirm this: since yesterday evening, July 31, plugin stopped working: in the afternoon I still had the correct reports and visits tracked, now analytics data from July 31 are all set to 0.
Very useful hack: it allows to generate automatic thumbs from Flickr, for example. With the last update of the plugin it was not possible anymore. Thanks!
In the PRO version it works. In my site, not the PRO version, I had an error regarding curl_init() function.
