In reply to: Am I doomed to CSS to make simple changes?If you want to operate a self hosted website you should learn at least some basic CSS and HTML. It makes life a lot easier.
However there themes available with quite comprehensive options panels and settings that make customization a lot easier without needing to know CSS and html. Some provide extensive settings and options for changing layouts, fonts, colors (with color pickers), backgrounds, titles etc.
