@ Baris: I haven’t tried it again because I’m afraid my site will go down again. The CPU only spiked after installing Jetpack, and now that I deleted it, CPU has been normal for several days. My conclusion is that the problem is Jetpack.
It’s possible I could use Carousel and disable the other components, but I just haven’t been brave enough to try yet.
Thanks for the advice. I thought it might be because of the stats, but if it’s like you say and goes to an external server, then I don’t know what could have caused it.
My web host took my site offline temporarily because it was using too much CPU on shared hosting. It happened after Jetpack had been added, and the problem was corrected when I removed Jetpack.
