OK, think I found a temporary solution with this one: 🙂

add define( ‘JETPACK_SYNC_IDC_OPTIN’ , false ); in your site’s wp-config.php file.

Thanks a lot! It does remove the boxes, although now the menu has moved further up in the header. But I solved that problem, at least partially, with some design changes… 🙂
