@jcamblin, I am having exactly the same problem.
after trying to create a new event , filling out all the start/end times ..once I hit the publish button I get to see the white wall of fuck all.
everything was working fine until I updated wordpress.
Good grief Rudnick.
so windows has actually got a few more server admins to use their rubbish on good hardware.
meanwhile, the real world still uses *nix software on real servers ( 66%) to handle the real jobs.
hope you make this a sticky.
