Running further tests, I realized I was being overly careful.
(I’m attaching a screenshot to better explain:

Basically, I started the backup from the “Backup Now” button (red), assuming that the only configured backup would start.
However, the settings I applied are only valid if I start the backup (always the only one) from the green-circled button.
This way, everything works as it should.
(Perhaps this strange misunderstanding is unique to me, or perhaps it could be a consideration for a change in the interface (although I think it’s irrelevant).)

Thanks for your feedback.
Unfortunately, the procedure you suggested (which was the first one I tried) doesn’t work.
(I’m on Aruba shared hosting, if that’s relevant.)
I just noticed that the folders to exclude (which aren’t native to WordPress, like “oldSite,” but are in the same folder as the WordPress installation) appear in the backup settings, under:
Data Settings > File (Configure) > Content Selector > WordPress Core.
(I didn’t think they’d appear there.)
However, even if I checked them there, they’re still included in the backup.
I hope I’ve been thorough.

I just want to know if I can use my paypal account to charge my users (both with paypal and card).

Same issue, no way to resolve this way.
There is a conflict with “Page Builder by SiteOrigin”.
With the SiteOrigun plugin disabled, everything works fine.
